extension and superstructure of the existing building
The project involves the extension and superstructure of an existing Veterinary Clinic building located in the Zalesie district of Rzeszów. The main objective was to create a new, contemporary form that would clearly yet coherently emphasize the building’s functional and aesthetic transformation. The massing of the building has been expanded by adding a full additional storey above the existing ground floor. The lower part, preserved in its original shape and finished with plaster, serves as a calm base for the new, distinctly defined superstructure. The entrance area has been enlarged, providing a more spacious waiting room and incorporating a new staircase to improve internal circulation.

The new upper storey is clad with rhombus-shaped metal panels laid in a “scale” pattern. Their slightly reflective surface introduces a play of light and reflections, enlivening the façade depending on the weather and time of day. Square windows of varying sizes, arranged in an irregular rhythm, lend the elevation a dynamic, rhythmic character. A large corner glazing acts as the main compositional accent, opening the interior toward the surrounding greenery.
Despite the material and formal contrast between the two levels, the overall composition maintains coherence and balance. The simple, restrained volume combines with the subtly reflective modern superstructure to form a unified and expressive piece of architecture—where technical precision meets sensitivity to detail and light.
