Cabin in the countryside
Designed during the period of social distancing, this out-of-town cabin answers the growing desire for a nature-focused retreat. Serving as a refuge for a young family, the project is located in Żarnowa (approx. 30 km south of the regional capital), in a picturesque area known as 'Little Bieszczady.' Influenced by the context - surrounding nature and vernacular wooden buildings - we chose a timber frame construction. The elevations and terrace are finished with natural wood planking to blend seamlessly with the landscape. The building is based on a square footprint of 5.9 x 5.9 m.

The functional layout facilitates both work and rest, thanks to a mezzanine that houses two independent rooms. The simple volume is crowned by a roof with an unconventionally rotated ridge – positioned at 45 degrees relative to the external walls.

Reflecting the steep topography of the site, the gabled roof allows the building’s volume to dialogue with the landscape. The street-facing facades are designed to be closed and intimate, while the opposite side opens to a panoramic mountain view, seamlessly dissolving the line between inside and outside
